Lenny Breau book by Ron Forbes-Roberts

I just had to comment briefly on a book that I just started called One Long Tune - The Life and Music of Lenny Breau. I grew up in Winnipeg and was fortunate to get to hear Lenny Breau live a number of times in trio and solo settings. As I read this book, I realize how inspiring I found Lenny's music. This book is really well written and researched and takes me back to those inspiring evenings at a little coffee house on Broadway called The Ting. My most mind blowing memory was hearing Lenny play a tune caled Vision, from a McCoy Tyner album called Expansions. Lenny distilled this wonderful cut with, among others, Wayne Shorter, Gary Bartz and Woody Shaw into a true solo guitar tour de force. I remember as a young guitarist having my head opened up to hearing what kind of personal vision that one could conjure. Lenny was a magician ... very inspirational.
